Alex i dont think thats it….They never cut the baby in half. The Real mother said no let the other woman have it, the fake mother said no cut him. obviously you can tell who got the baby.

so this looks like a depiction of Oedipus. When he was born the father heard that his son would grow up to kill him and so he had a servant string him up in a tree. the servant couldn’t do it so he let him live. He was so named because of his club foot.

Looks like Heracles killing his children, maybe? Probably a Renaissance reproduction of a Roman reproduction of a Greek original. Or just a Renaissance statue.

Probably depicting the bible story where the two women were fighting over the baby so they cut it in half. This looks like they’re holding it up deciding where to cut lol

First, how old is it? Second, what is the purpose of the statue? It looks like it’s depicting some story or something. In my opinion, yes, it is still art. Why? Because it’s only a statue!
