@Val: You’re so naive.. there is nothing innocent about this picture, the kid is not cupping or just holding her breasts, he is clearly covering both nipples with both hands. Bathing with, breast feeding and changing in front of young children is totally different and absolutely fine to some degree, but the woman is clearly posing here and the kid just shouldn’t be in the pic! There’s a time and a place for everything and if she wants to take slutty pics then do it when the child isn’t around. COMMON SENSE, much?

The child is at the very least 4. There is a difference in breast feeding and what is going on here. My daughter is 5 and I change in front of her that is fine people need to be comfortable with their bodies but she knows certain parts of our bodies are not meant to be touched by other people. If he goes to kindergarten and touches women’s breasts it will be a real problem.
Also this picture was clearly not take in a tribal village or in a nurturing pose. And in those primitive tribes you talk about I doubt women are overtly sexualized the way they are in more modern cultures. In some cultures parents and children all sleep in one room (so obviously have sex in that same room with the children in it) is it ok then for people to start doing that here as well? What is culturally acceptable varies from society to society because our societies function differently so the emotional implications are not comparable when it comes to things like this. If we want to discuss cultural norms as a basis for logical arguments you would also have to justify arranged marriages, child brides, female circumcision etc. Those too are all seen as completely normal. To say just because something is acceptable in one culture it is acceptable in all cultures is walking a very thin tight rope.

Jenna – the kid is too young to have any idea of what he’s doing, I estimate he’s only 3 years old, for him it’s like grabbing a shoulder or an elbow.

There is nothing wrong with breasts. They are not a sexual organ. this is not a mommy taking a “sexy” porn picture. It is a woman holding what is more than likely her child, and the child is covering her breasts for the picture that she obviously is not taking herself. I know of few children who have not seem their mothers at the very lest topless, passed infancy. North American culture can condone a bikini made of dental floss and postage stamps, but a child seeing his mothers breasts makes her a ***** and him scarred for life? It might not be classy, but its not child abuse.
@Kel, your comments are ignorant, a woman being photographed without a shirt does not make her a ****. I hardly think looking at a single photograph gives anyone the knowledge or right to determine someones sexual promiscuity.

Should we prevent kids from contact with breasts? Do you know what this means from an educational point of view? This means that kid will lack the feeling of universal comfort that comes from touching a woman’s breast, yet he won’t lack the need for it, and that might cause a serious emotional unease.
