Mountain lions have a VERY strong prey drive, and while a large, loud and agressive adult would probably frighten it off, a small child would stand NO chance. The pictures are most unfortunate, but depict exactly what you should do. Turn your back on the cat to put the kid behind you and they will go for your throat. They are telling you to pick your child up so they don’t run off in fear and intice the cat to chase them down.
